the mature mother

Mature and confident, deeply rooted in herself, accepting who she is compassionately. During this time of maturity a woman usually becomes more connected to who she is and what she values, through healthy boundaries, introspection and self-nurturing love. In her fullness she is glowing, sensual and abundantly fertile not only in regards to motherhood – but in whatever she desires to give birth to (think creative projects, business endeavours, etc.). Connected to her body, to God, and to her inner strength — her intuition.

Physical mothers often give all of themselves to their husband, children, and communities, which serves as an analogy to what might happen if this part of our psyche remains in the shadow. We may forget to take care of ourselves while caring too much about others, sometimes to the point of being controlling and having a hard time letting those we care about make their own decisions. Like many mothers with children, we can often feel a lot of guilt and shame for mistakes we have made in our lives. We disconnected from ourselves due to un-forgiveness, shame and guilt. Self forgiveness is a big part of integrating the Mother — by bringing these shadow aspects within us, and challenges into the conscious part of our psyche with compassion towards ourselves.

To me there is no better crystal for this archetype than the one commonly known as the love stone, the Rose quartz. It was a natural choice that needed no second thought as I was confident it would represent the Mother well because it symbolises exactly that; Mother-love and self-love. The sweet toned stone also represents the earth and water elements which are both grounding and comforting — exactly what we need when connecting to who we are through the opening of our hearts to self-forgiveness and deep inner healing. That’s what the Rose quartz reminds us of and encourages us to do, bringing peace into our lives so the Mother can be comfortably integrated.

As we mature, heal, integrate and create personal initiation ceremonies for ourselves, we find wholeness and completeness. Darkness that once clouded our inner world, our psyche, is now slowly replaced with truth revealing light, and we can finally see more clearly what is placed within us. Our gifts, dreams, values, and ultimately our purpose.

With love,
Miranda Maria.

“No matter how old a woman becomes, no matter how many years pass,
she has yet more ages, stages, and more ‘first times’ awaiting her.
That is what initiation is all about: it creates an archway which one prepares to
pass through to a new manner of knowing and being.”
